Note | Despite some later additions, Crichton Lodge remains the original Gothic Revival villa built during the 1880s and owned by Thomas McLeod Clark, Thomas McKay’s son-in-law. Clark moved his family there sometime after the death of his wife, Jessie, in 1880. The house was named after Jessie’s mother, Ann Crichton. After Clark’s death in 1901, his two unmarried daughters rented the house to Lord Dundonald, General Officer Commanding the Militia. |
